Clovis, CA – October 7, 2008.Sierra Vista Mall is the official kick off location for the Fresno County Heart Gallery, a project of the Department of Children and Family Services in Fresno County (DCFS).Along with private Foster Care and Adoption agencies, DCFS works to find permanent homes for children who are in need and deserving permanency.Photographers, both professional and amateur volunteer their time to take compelling and beautiful photos of youth who are in foster care and are hoping to find a “Forever Family”.
The DCFS’ hope is that in addition to finding permanent homes for children in the community, this program may increase awareness and generate additional programs that will support Foster Care youth between the ages of 9-21.After the October 18th event, you can view the photo display near Mervyn’s inside the mall through the end of the year.
To bring a family style awareness to this program, Sierra Vista Mall is hosting a Pumpkin Harvest Festival from 11am to 3pm at the mall’s Community Park.The mall has partnered with Cricket Communications, The Sierra Vista Cinemas 16 Theater, The Clovis Police Explorer Post #355 and Hobb’s Grove to provide a day of fun, games, prizes and safety awareness.Cricket Communications has generously offered to provide parents with finger printing kits and photos of the child for the kit.The Clovis Police Explorer Post #355 will assist with the fingerprinting.Sierra Vista Cinemas 16 Theater will provide the pumpkin pies for a pie eating contest along with free caricatures for children.Bring your camera and stop by the Madagascar Escape 2 Africa photo opportunity or The Nightmare Before Christmas 3D display.There will be games and prizes based around both movies in additional to other games throughout the park.This free family friendly is a must stop for all ages.
